He did it again!
Seth pooped on the potty again. He did it a few times 2 months ago, but then he decided he didn't like the potty anymore. He still told us when he had to go...he would day "diaper" or "potty" and then when we asked him if he wanted to go sit on the potty he would say no and then just go in his diaper. Well, this morning he told me he had to go, so i took him to the potty and made him sit. He wasn't too thrilled about it at first, but after a few minutes he made a poopie!!! Yay! I hope he will want to continue doing this now, but we shall see.

20 month update
Well, i am a few days behind, but Seth is now 20 months old! I just can't believe it. As stated in my previous post, Seth has been really cranky. Well yesterday he woke up crying real tears and it lasted for a good hour. He couldn't settle down so i was unable to get him to daycare. On top of cutting his canines over the past month, he has also had a cold for the past week and a half. This very well could have contributed to his crankiness, but one of the first words he said when he woke up yesterday was "ears". I knew something wasn't right by the way he was crying and i believe he was really telling me that his ears hurt. I decided to take him to the doc and sure enough he had the beginning of an ear infection. The doc even asked him which ear hurt and Seth pointed to it and said "ear". The doc was amazed by how well Seth can communicate and tell us what was wrong. Seth talked throughout the whole visit with the doc and after the doc poked and prodded, Seth said "all done" and then tried to rush the doc out of the room by saying "bye bye" over and over. When we got home, we gave him some antibiotics and ibuprofin and he was a brand new little boy! He was in the best mood i have seen him in for a while and he talked nonstop. He was saying words that i have never heard him say before and labeling every object he saw. We got him a hamburger for lunch and he pointed at it and said "hamburga...yay". At dinner he had some grapes and when he finished them he gave me his plate and said "more grapes pease". Honestly in one day he just bumped his vocabulary to a whole new level. It is very exciting! Along with saying "a b c", he can now count to "one, two, twee". I introduced him to sesamestreet.org, which now i feel is a mistake. :) He always wants to go get on the computer now and see "monkers" (monsters).
On another note, the STL area received a 36 hour long snowfall! We got about 6-8 inches and all i can say is that i should not have gone to work today. I slid a few times and most of the roads weren't even plowed. Very scary, but now i'm here and can't go home!

Terrible 2's strike again
I love this picture, but don't let that smile fool you...lurking just around the corner is a tantrum waiting to happen! :) A few months ago Seth had a rough couple of days, so i chalked it up to the terrible twos, but then he was back to his sweet self again...until now. It has been a week now and Seth is really acting out alot. Every day last week his teacher's were saying that he just wasn't himself and was getting frustrated so easily. And at home, he is not much better. He will be laughing one minute and then throwing himself down on the ground the next. Ignoring the tantrums seems to help and he snaps out of it pretty quick, but it's the other things that are so frustrating. He used to be so good about getting into his carseat, or the tub or his bed, but now everything is a battle. It has to be on his terms or it just isn't going to be! If you give him a piece of bread for dinner, he doesn't want that one, he wants a different piece even though it's exactly the same. I pulled out my discipline books last night and refreshed my memory and got some good pointers. Fact: the terrible two's actually start closer to 15 months and can last a LONG time. I have found some discipline approaches that work well for Seth, but then there are some things i am just totally at a loss about. What do you do when your child totally refuses to sit in the car seat?? Needless to say, i am going to be very busy reading up on discipline. Even with the tantrums though he is still very sweet and loves his hugs and kisses.
On a different note, last Saturday Seth got his very first haircut. It wasn't very long to begin with, but i just wanted to get it evened up. We found this cool little kid's hair place called the Hairy Elephant. There were all sorts of toys and games and each station had it's very own TV. Seth sat and watched Elmo and sucked on a lolipop while he got his haircut. He was so good!

In memory of Nana
As most of you know, my grandma passed away early yesterday morning. It has been very difficult for me because my grandma and I had such a special bond. It brings me much peace to think that she is in heaven and able to reunite with her mom and dad and husband. I love you Nana and miss you very much. You have touched my life in so many ways and i will always have such fond memories of you. Rest in peace sweet Nana...until we meet again.

"I Love You"
Seth is now saying I love you...actually it sounds more like "I lub boo", but he is now saying it. He first said it to Nanny while we were talking to her on the phone, so needless to say she was thrilled to be the first one he said it to. Daddy was next and then me! Those are probably some of the most precious words i have ever heard from my little boy, of course so is "mama" which just melts my heart every time he says that.

too cute!
This morning when i dropped Seth off at daycare, he sat at the table across from 2 little girls. One of the girls smiled at me, so i said "hi, Erin". I then asked Seth if he could say hi to her and he said, "hi Erin". He then looked at the other girl and said "hi Addie". It was really sweet. Then, a mom and her daughter came thru the door and Seth pointed and said "it's Emma!". It was so cute and the teachers were so suprised because since she is fairly new, he had never said Emma's name before. My little guy is quite the Ladies Man!

True Love
Yesterday as I arrived to pick Seth up from daycare, i noticed that tears were running down his face and that he had been crying. His teacher said he was sad and when i asked why, she said that he missed me and kept asking for "mama". When he saw me he jumped up and ran to me throwing his arms around me to greet me with a big hug. As i wiped his tears away, i realized that this little boy truly loves me with all his heart. To be loved that much by someone and in return loving him just as much is such a tremendously amazing feeling, yet so scary at the same time!
Christmas and more!
I have gotten so far behind in my blogging, so i promise to try and keep this as short as possible! Christmas was a blast and Seth really got the hang of opening his gifts. Nonna and Nonno and Zia Hillary came to visit for Christmas, and then my parents, Nanny and Papa, came to visit after them. It was so much fun and Seth even said everyone's name. When Nanny and Papa were visiting, at dinner he would go around the table and point at everyone while calling them by name and then he would point to himself and say, "it's Seth". Seth has really started combining words and sometimes even says 3 words at a time. We honestly have completely lost track of all of his new words because it is truly too many to count! He can say "A, B, C" and the other day I started counting with him and i started by saying, "one" and then he said "two". I was shocked and amazed! Another new thing he does is labeling everything by saying "it's hot" or "it's cold". He is also very into coloring and playing with "paydo" (playdoh). He even knows a few colors with his favorite being "lelow" (yellow). Mommy and Seth got sick with bronchitis shortly after Christmas and Seth also got a double ear infection. I had to spend one night sleeping on the floor with him in his room because he was just miserable. We are much better now thanks to antibiotics. I'm sure i have left sooooo much out and i was trying to remember everything that happened at Christmas, but I guess this is going to have to do. Here is a slideshow of the Christmas Holidays. If you click on the colorful little circle thingie at the bottom right corner of the slideshow, a screen will pop up. On that screen it will say Album: Christmas 2008. If you click on "christmas 2008", you will be able to view them on a larger scale.
